Nature Awaits!

LABYRINTH
For a more meditative experience, visit our labyrinth located in a secluded, quiet area surrounded by nature. Labyrinths can signify various meanings and serve as a playful reminder of life’s twists and turns. The labyrinth can be found close to the intersection of the trails Rambling and Neverland.

BIRDING
IJG Trails is home to a wide variety of bird species, thanks to its diverse topography and vegetation. We are also frequented by several migratory species and a few near-endemic ones. While sightings of birds of prey and vultures are not always guaranteed, they are a delightful treat when spotted.
Cattle farming in the area creates numerous small open water sources, which are particularly appealing to many smaller bird species, especially during the dry season, making them easy to observe.
All you need to do is look and listen. Binoculars and a field guide or birding apps can be valuable tools for identification. Additionally, birding excursions can be arranged in advance, depending on guide availability.
We can recommend the ‘Roberts’ Bird guide’, ‘Sasol Ebirds’, or ‘BirdPro’ app.

TREES, SHRUBS & FLOWERS
We’ve labelled some common trees and shrubs within the trail head area. The purpose of the tree tags is to make identification easier and to spark some interest amongst our trail users. Look out for the green metal tags to assist in plant identification. Some more species have been tagged along the following trails: Peter Pan, Mad Max and Mount Little North.
During the rainy season, you’ll be treated to a beautiful array of wildflowers! They bloom for just a few weeks, so why not take a lovely stroll and enjoy their stunning colours and intricate details? Treat yourself to this delightful experience!
